| "Sisters"
Franca and Giuseppina, two sisters in Salento (South Italy), are chatting in a courtyard. The beauty of their serenity is based on complicity between them, human warmth and faith in God. In a land where they still live in a simple way, passing of time has left its evident signs on the body of both elderly women but has not affected the peace of the place and their lives which are made of shared gestures, ancient family rituals and small actions linked to the alternation of the seasons.

The joy of living in a smile, in a look. I find a face in which only the expression of happiness stands out fascinating and it is so gratifying for me to reproduce such beauty. It's so nice to look at the kind face of this old woman who could be everyone's grandmother.

In January two of her paintings will be exhibited in the Pictor Gallery New York in cooperation with the MEAM Museum Barcelona/ Spain

Alexandra’s work specializes in the natural interaction between the female body and the element of water. The deep connection between the artist and the sea is visible in many of Alexandra's paintings. For her, the sea is a decelerating place of power that creates inner peace and at the same time reflects states of consciousness of one's own life. This intention always flows into her work.

| 之前从来没有画过观音菩萨像,找不到感觉无法下笔,一次听到一位先生跟和他讲真相的法轮功学员说,“你是救苦救难的观音菩萨吧?我觉得你就是”,我脑海里就出现了观音菩萨的形象,一下子就找到感觉,我是用敦煌壁画等为参照,镶嵌宝石,水晶,金属等装饰品,在油画基础上采用粘贴镶嵌工艺和线条的表现,使之带有中华民族东方古老艺术的韵味,我平时都是用其他颜料来画的,为了这次展出,特意尝试用油画来表现,可能有很多不成熟的表现,不过我想重在参与,我就是想来支持这个新唐人画展,每年举办画展都很不容易,谢谢您们的辛苦付出和给我们爱好绘画的人的机会,合十!

| This painting was inspired by cubism; the plan at the beginning was to create one big face by using small shapes; when I started to paint the canvas, I decided to make more and more faces that you can see in a second, third, and even fourth looks! My favorite part was the creation of the different colors by using only primary colors.
I love to hide things in my art, so I will let you enjoy the painting as much as I do!

When I was 22 I discovered that painting was my real passion. I did in the evening hours an education on the Art Academy in Amsterdam.
When I was 24 I took private courses in the 17th painting techniques/materials. Because the Art Academy didn't teach this. So I went to musea to do research to old masters and to old grounding/techniques.

The title of this painting is translated from Italian as “The Mask”.
I was inspired by a number of things that happened.
1.My great fascination for masters such as Rembrandt van
Rijn, Gerard van Honthorst, Caravaggio and many more.
2. I saw an announcement of an exhibition about candlelight in Gouda (a

| 《清朝袖炉海报》
这幅画采用20至40年代的海报设计呈现袖炉产品。袖炉是旧宫廷普通使用的掌中取暖工具,小巧玲珑,集古今工艺美术精华,是艺术殿堂的珍宝。从清朝结束至进入中华民国时期,当时候的贵妇依然是有使用袖炉作为取暖工具或摆设,极其珍贵。今日称为“手炉”,这幅画采用两个时代的混合,呈现古典产品与半现代海报风格,也体现旧时代的变迁,作为设计概念。
This painting represents a sleeve furnace product in a poster design from the 20’s to 40’s. The sleeve furnace is a hand heating tool commonly used in the palace. It is small and exquisite and it also combine the essence of ancient and modern arts and crafts. It is a treasure in the palace. From the end of Qing dynasty to the beginning of the period of the Republic of China, noble ladies still used it as heating tools or decorations as it was very precious. In modern times, it known as “Hand Furnace”. This painting adopts the mixture of two eras, presenting classical products with a semi-modern poster style and also reflects the changes of old era, as a design concept.

《默默等待孩兒回家》
巴迪布是马来西亚的一种蜡染布料。每年马来人新年,老人家都会亲手做一匹巴迪布给孩子以示祝福。
画面呈现年迈母亲在一个简陋的环境里蜡染巴迪布,一点一滴的蜡染盼孩子回家,或许布料完成的那一天就是孩子回家的那一天。一道的曙光照射着母亲的背影,体现出含辛、伟大,希望孩子们能够体会妈妈的用心。
Batik is a kind of cloth in Malaysia. When it is almost the time for Hari Raya Aidilfitri, the elderly will make batik for their children to express ther blessings. The painting talks about an elderly mother is canting the batik cloth in a hovel, bit by bit looking forward her children returned. When the batik cloth is finished canting may be the day children returned. A ray of dawn shines on the back of the mother, reflecting the bitterness and greatness of a mother. Hopes all the children in the world can appreciate their mothers intentions.

| Melinda has been a professional fine artist since 2003 working in oils, egg tempera and gouache. He passion has always been the figure.
She has had over 8 one woman shows, participated in numerous two and three-person shows in New Mexico, Texas and Colorado as well as regional and national art competitions winning awards in the Sedona International Art Competition, Portrait Society of America, Oil Painters of America, National Oil Painter & Acrylic Painter Society and Bold Brush National Art Competition. She is an avid teacher regularly teaching art students in both her studio and workshops locations. In promoting the figure and portraiture, Melinda has organized and lead the weekly "painting from the figure" sessions for the Fort Worth Art Center in Fort Worth, TX for the past 6 years. Prior to moving to Fort Worth from Denver, Colorado, Melinda held a weekly "painting from the model" in her studio for 10 years.
Prior to pursuing her art career, Melinda finished her art education at the University of Texas at Tyler and immediately stepped into advertising where she was both a graphic designer, and art director for 16 years. She later was led into recruiting where she recruited for talent in technology, sales and digital marketing for many years. Melinda was introduced to the Arts Students League in Denver, Colorado in 2002 where she continued her art education under the tutelage of Quang Ho, Kim English, Kevin Weckback and Ron Hicks from 2002 to 2006. She has been a full-time painter for over 20 years. Melinda has been represented by numerous galleries over her career. Currently she is represented by Texas Treasures Fine Art, Boerne, TX; Jack Meier Gallery, Houston, TX; OA Gallery, Kirkland, MO and Alexandra Stevens Fine Art, Lubbock TX. She has received recognition for her paintings in publications such as national publications American Art Collector, The Santa Fean, and Southwest Art.

| 這個作品取材於排灣族的五年祭。一方面是想表達以前原住民的日常生活,另一方面也將原住民為了保有自己傳統而每五年舉辦的活動紀錄下來,其中五年祭本身活動的精神在於告訴我們人要飲水思源,慎終追遠,敬重神靈。
在描繪原住民的服飾中,每個圖騰、紋路都是與祖先和神靈的聯繫,雖然描繪不易,卻也從中感到排灣族祖先的智慧與勤勞。
蹲姿的婆婆專注的控制火力,避免午餐不小心焦了。小女孩乖乖的站在一旁,看著婆婆如何用古早時期的方式,耐心的處理午餐。雖然有點因為枯燥或身上繁華的服飾讓全身不自在而皺起了小臉,不過還是靜靜地等待。在長者與少女這樣自然而然的狀態下,讓旁人感受到,這是一個承傳的過程。
從一個旁觀者的看法,覺得原住民族所承傳的不只是活動祭典的儀式、設計精美的服飾,而是承傳那自古以來,從祖先那靈魂深處所保有的敬天重德,使受到現代社會影響而心靈浮動的族人,能夠安穩下自己的心神,用超常的看法來應對紛亂的俗事。
在忙碌的現代社會,有多少人能夠遵循與找回那種初心和古意?中華五千年的傳統文化與道德精神瑰寶,也需要更多人們的守護與關注。

| 台灣是個美麗的寶島,在這塊土地上共有十六個原住民族群,也有十六種語言與文化,因循著時間的軌跡科技日新月異,時代與外來政治的侵略帶走了原住民文化保留的空間,因此文化的消逝是我們必須重視的議題。有鑒於此本人便投身於原住民油畫創作,本作品表達的是台灣的泰雅族婦女正在為豐年祭的盛典製作年糕,殷勤的模樣展現出Atayal婦人的美善,泰雅族的麻紡織工藝在各族中最為發達,女子則需善於紡紗織布,才可在面部刺青。雙頰刺上寬邊的V形紋飾,對女子而言,則是具有美德與文化的真、善、美..........
